GAME IDEAS

(Anonymous)

Harry Potter Jamjar

(Anonymous)
I know we have HP games out there, but it seems that they tend toward AU. Personally, I prefer jamjars.

I want to create an RP set in Hogwarts during the book series (and thus screwing with it), from Prisoner of Azkaban and on. A magical accident, the details of which have yet to be determined by the Ministry but probably was some sort of botched experimental dark magic, has resulted in people from other worlds seeping in. All of them have magical potential, and some of them have powers their own reality has granted.

Under the Statute of Secrecy, it's vital to keep these foreigners under wraps, especially since a number cannot possibly pass as muggles. In addition, it's become important to get that magical potential reined in. Thus: EDUCATION.

Some of the arrivals are of school age, and can attend classes at Hogwarts. Dumbledore is more than willing to accept these strangers with open arms, and the faculty have come up with a way to accomodate their needs and lack of prior learning.

The bigger problem lies with adult students. The Ministry have devised and approved of a modular adult learning course that teaches these adults necessary skills to integrate into wizarding society... but they insist that these classes are taught at Hogwarts, by new staff dedicated to this task. Dumbledore is fine with this: with the attitudes of some parts of the Wizarding World, and the reports of some off-world people being murdered, Hogwarts is a safe place for them, and Hogwarts is a place of learning. What Dumbledore is not okay with, however, is the magical perimeter set up to prevent the off-worlders from leaving the area once they enter.

However, unfortunately, the Wizarding World faces numerous problems. They have always been a rather closed society, and the intrusion of these off-worlders is certainly not welcome - even the most open-minded are understandably suspicious. The way the Ministry has handled the situation - placing these people in the close vicinity of their children - is a subject of major debate, and it's not unheard of for people to comment that they hope notorious criminal, Sirius Black, will at least take care of a few off-worlders before he's caught.

Oh, yes, and of course there's said notorious criminal to be concerned about.

This game would be predominantly a community-based Jamjar, with the option to AU a character to fit the setting. OCs based on or adapted to Harry Potter canon would also be welcome.

There is something of a problem in that Harry Potter characters need to fit the current timeline, so some characters will be off-limits on the basis that they are dead. However, the only major character who will be exclusively an NPC is Dumbledore.

I would be all over this, ngl

I would app there, this pings me hard, especially if you're going to have cool plots.

I do, however, have a question.

So, Voldemort is back. And the ministry of magic, in their usual wisdom (as opposed to mishandling everything grossly, which they would totally NEVER do!) has just trapped people from different worlds in this place. Some of which may be angry. Others who may very well like Death Eaters.
What about them? Would they, eventually, be able to join the dark side?

Serious question, because that could throw a big wench into everything long term, there could even be a PC-equivalent of the DEs plotting to raise themselves as a new power. Imagine Azula from Airbender, Kefka from FF6, and several other villains teaming up. This could lead to some very, very cool plots.

Re: Harry Potter Jamjar

I love everything about this idea.

You know you're invested in an idea when you start learning calligraphy purely to make pretty maps and stuff...

GUYS GUYS I am actually working on this (which is why my idea is a little teal deer), but I want to create a comm for it so I can see all my pages live. Sadly, I am terrible at titles, especially when the decent Harry Potter sounding titles are taken.

So, if you could toss in a few suggestions for titles, or words that you think might inspire a title, toss 'em up here!

Unless you want it to be called something crap. Like "Accio! World" or the "The [insert random name here] Tower."

Re: Harry Potter Jamjar

Let me drown in your beautiful ideas, anon. Please make this happen; I'd app in a heartbeat.

I also got out this journal just for you, to show my approval. I hope you're happy.

ANTI-JAMJAR EVERY AU IS ALLOWED ALSO ALL THE CHARACTERS. Setting is Chronicles of Amber.

(Anonymous)
So okay I'm not going for the TL;DR explanation. Let me sum up.

Anti-jamjar game; your character finds that their world is a Shadow, ie, one of many billions of possible universes, and that they've just been recruited as a footsoldier in a war between the factions of Law and Chaos. They have the newfound ability to walk between dimensions, fuck with their own canon, fuck with other people's canons, and bend reality to their will.

Thing is, the people who recruited you are way older than you and better than you at this sort of thing. And then their friends kind of want you dead, since you're an abomination against nature. WHAT DO YOU DO!? Do you quietly let yourself be terminated (HA)? Do you fight this stupid war? Do you join the growing group of rebels that want nothing to do with this bullshit?

MAIN POINTS:

* Characters can go home. Characters can live out other people's canons. Characters can take over their homes and set themselves up as king. There is ALWAYS a "clean" version of canon thanks to there being infinite numbers of possible worlds in this setting, so characters can ALWAYS be taken from that canon, but the biggest point is that you can indeed go home again. This is NOT a jamjar.
* AUs, OCs, canon OCs, would all be allowed. Multiples are also allowed. Yes, this means we'll get nine million Axels, Karkats, and Germanies. No, I don't care. there is no limit on the number of duplicates (this is pretty canon for the setting). The only limit is that no one player can play two versions of the same character, and muncest is strongly discouraged, so no playing two characters from the same canon who have regular interaction.
* There's no character limit, there are only activity checks. think you can actively keep up with seventeen characters? Fine. Go.
* Creating new worlds, ruling entire plants, having small armies of NPC goons, all of this is A-OK. Very large things that will affect other PCs will require mod approval, but in this setting having your own bottled universe is a *small* thing, so you'd literally just be required to create a page on the game wiki and you'd be good to go (If a new planet/NPC/whatever doesn't have a page in the game wiki, it doesn't exist and the mods can backhand you. RECORDKEEPING = IMPORTANT IN A GAME THIS CRAZY)

Yes I realize that this will be a clusterfuck; I don't care, what I want to know is if there's any interest in a game this permissive and open? Everyone bitches about jamjars and not allowing AUs or OCs and well this is flipping the table and going the other way

- YEAH BUT WHAT ABOUT APPS
Apps judged purely on writing quality and not validity of interpretation; all interpretations are valid, yes even your AU where Draco Malfoy is a hooker. If you can write it well, you can do it.

IDK

INTEREST?

If you're asking if I want to see Draco Malfoy as a hooker... no, but yes I might join a game like this.

Benedict suspects this is Corwin's fault.

HOLY SHIT YES.

Digimon - Pan-Fandom

(Anonymous)
No specific ideas, just that I want one where you app in characters and they get digimon partners and they have to fight evil (or we can have evil characters trying to take over the digital world ala Digimon Emperor) and there would be a plot about all of this.

Just because with the great Pokemon games out there why can't there be a great Digimon Game? The ship for Digital Dive has sailed so don't come at me with that

Re: GAME IDEAS

So idea: How about an Afterschool Charisma/Clone High type semi-AU game? That is, you play a teenage clone of a canon character, sent to a jamjar type highschool and you try to regain the memories/abilities of your original.

Re: GAME IDEAS (Anonymous) Expand

Right thread this time!

(Anonymous)
I'm actually surprised no one's ever made a game based off of the setting from Echo Bazaar (http://echobazaar.failbettergames.com/).

Either as an OC-only game or an AU-ish thing.

Snatcher

(Anonymous)
Anyone familiar with the old SegaCD game Snatcher (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snatcher#Plot_and_setting)? Lately I've been thinking that it would make for a great cyberpunk-noir RP setting with horror elements (the Snatcher menace). Possibly as an AU game or something.

Re: GAME IDEAS

I just thought of a Marvel/Hunger Games (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hunger_Games) crossover.

Premise: Mojo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mojo_(comics)) needs a little new fodder for his television programmes. The solution? Well, he has access to multiple universes. So he gets this brilliant idea to take the best warriors from each universe, throw them together in a big, booby-trapped arena, and make them fight it out to the death. And why would they comply? Because the last person left standing gets to return to their universe.

Pros:
- Opportunity for some really dark, fucked up RP and serious character development.

Cons:
- It would have to be a really weirdly structured game with rounds of fighting and stuff. Idk maybe the characters could interact even when they're not fighting.
- Power imbalances.
- Hero-type characters who just can't possibly kill anyone and would forever be trying to escape/start a rebellion which would make the whole premise useless 8( Maybe there could be restrictions on the type of characters brought in. Mojo wants his Games to run smoothly, after all.
- The necessity of characters dying. Not very fun for everyone.
- It'd be just hell to mod.

Sooo...never gonna happen but I just had to get it off my chest. /breathes and feels better

Portal Jamjar, anyone?

(Anonymous)
Technically I'm already a quarter of a way into building this thing, so it's just a matter of whether people want to join (and whether I should finish building it, natch).

I haven't finished Portal 2 just yet so facts may change slightly, but general idea is that GLaDOS is (still) alive, has rebuilt the handheld portal device, and also possibly may have figured out how to make portals to other dimensions. Where there are people! And she needs test subjects. Cue the Party Escort Bot visiting (and paralyzing) your character in their sleep and said character waking up in the bowels of the Enrichment Center (which GLaDOS has been gladly reconstructing even crazier and further underground than before).

Tests will be run both for solos and groups, kind of like the co-op courses. Players would be allowed to make up their own tests for their characters provided they were solvable and had a minimum of three obstacles. Ratman Dens will be available in some areas. Plotting against GLaDOS will be encouraged! GLaDOS snark will be a constant. Personality core hijinks may ensue!

All characters with superpowers would lose them in the facility because lol your crazy physics don't work in this universe (or that's the official explanation; GLaDOS doesn't really know or care why). Kids and animal characters are a-okay, though GLaDOS doesn't really care if they can use the portal gun, either. Relaxation vaults would probably be connected but she'd have a habit of sleep gassing any pesky rebellion plotters, so characters would have to be sneaky. Obstacles that Valve developed but which never made it into the actual Portal games may be available.

Basically it's one big excuse for this:

STAR TREK JAMJAR

(Anonymous)
The Borg have assimilated technology that lets them traverse alternate dimensions, so they go from universe to universe assimilating basically everyone. Your characters are now drones. But since that would be extremely boring to RP, most of the in-game interaction would take place in Unimatrix Zero (http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Unimatrix_Zero), essentially a virtual reality that some drones are able to visit while regenerating. While in Unimatrix Zero, characters would have the option of (A) moping, (B) trying to lead an ordinary virtual life while dealing with the knowledge that when they are awake their lives are terrible, or (C) trying to find some way to break free of the Borg, despite the fact that when they awaken they can't remember or act on any knowledge of UZ.

...I have way too much on my plate to even consider modding a game, but I would really love to see this, so if anyone wants to take it and make it better than my crappy little summary...

Scion AU panfandom thingy

(Anonymous)
Set in the world of Scion, by White Wolf (this thing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scion_(role-playing_game) ) Each character is the mortal offspring of a god and has been recruited into a war against the Titans, their parents handling the war up above while they're tasked with dealing with the enemy forces on earth. It's a modern setting and basically sold as 'the real world, but the old Norse, Greek, Aztec, Japanese, etc. legends are actually true'.

+ Characters could reasonably be the Scion of any god or other god-like creature from any old legend, though not ones that only exist in recent fiction (so no Cthulu Scions, though you could probably have a character be the Scion of, say, Titania)
+ The game's could be something easy to work with, like a small city-state island sort of thing that exists specifically to train the assorted Scions, so that the characters aren't spread out over the whole world
+ OBVIOUSLY, characters get powers and gifts from the god half of their parentage. A Greek kid might get the Golden Fleece, for example.
+ It's an AU, but canons that are already set in the modern setting could be transferred over pretty painlessly as long as the 'AU' part kicks in before any earth shattering consequences that don't gel with the game's setting occur

That's what I've got so far. Anyone else think they'd be interested?

Sonic panfandom

(Anonymous)
Someone should make a game set in the Sonic world. Not a Sonic game, but a Sonic-themed panfandom RPG, similar to the Pokemon RPs where any character can play regardless of canon.

It'd be especially cool if it was set in the Shattered Mirror Zone/Dark Mobius from the Archie comics. Enerjak could be dragging people in across the multiverse so he could kill them conveniently. Characters could form their own Freedom Fighters groups to resist him, going on missions to save people, looking for survivors, etc.

Dirty Vegas: Improved Edition?

(Anonymous)
Because "The Sequel" just felt wrong.

Since it was brought up as an idea here and I was personally interested, I wanted to see if anyone else would be up for helping mod a male-oriented sex game. Or maybe not even a sex game, but a romance-focused one for guys.

Opinions on this? What would you want to see in such a game? What would you NOT want to see? I'm open to ideas and willing to run the show, but I want to hear others' opinions first.

Re: GAME IDEAS

(Anonymous)
In League of Legends, to prevent magical wars from tearing apart basically the whole world, they decide to have specific areas for fights of 5v5 or 3v3 to take place, where magic users are summoned to fight for their team.

I think it'd be fun to have something like this - characters are summoned to the battlefield, duke it out, and then spend maybe another week there before they get sent back home until the next fight. And of course, which side had more wins would affect what goes on and there would be problems and hitches along the road. Summoning malfunctions, events, the fights themselves, etc.

But I think it would be a nice change from YOU'RE STUCK FOREVER - instead it would be, you're summoned to fight for a team you chose and possibly on terms that you chose as well. Then you can go back to canon! Probably using some sort of network to keep everyone in contact when they aren't in the tournaments, although I'm not a fan of networks it makes the most sense.

I think it would be fun.
